I've always had an interest in the more creative side of things, whether it be artistic endeavors or more design-oriented projects, but I never fully realized this until high school, where a supportive teacher encouraged me to submit to the State Fair graphic design competition. Following through on his advice, I created a poster & scored second place in my age group, & suddenly came to the realization that "Hey, I might be pretty good at this!" I haven't looked back since.
