MSA Powwow
In 2024, I was tasked to come up with an evergreen design for NCSU Multicultural Student Affairs’s annual Powwow event. It’s a celebration of indigenous culture that’s open to all, with food, vendors, and live dance, so my goal was to create a main graphic that is playful and fun, but still in line with NC State’s brand.
After some research, I was inspired by the gorgeous floral beadwork designs of the eastern woodland tribes, specifically the distinctive linework & outlines within the petals.

My goal was to keep the traditional shapes and linework of the original design style, but shape it into a wolf to match with NC State’s mascot. I created a sketch and then did a few experiments -testing all the colors available, or limiting the palette to the classic red, white, and black. The design ended up getting selected for use on most promotional materials was the most similar to my sketch - full color on a black backround. Following approval, I created templates in Canva for the department to use going forwards.
